Whoever told you self-love was easy was not being 100% truthful. Self-love is hard freakin' work.
Yes, sometimes self love looks like face masks, warm baths, and eating a pint of ice cream. But, most of the time self love is doing the shit we don't feel like doing. It's waking up early to journal and meditate. It's getting in that 30 mins-1 hour of movement when we'd rather sit on our phones scrolling Instagram. It's rehearsing daily affirmations in the mirror even though our mind is racing with thoughts of "this is bullshit, I'll never believe this, why am I wasting my time." Self-love is digging DEEP into your past to put together the pieces of understanding why you are the way you are. It's being vulnerable. It's asking for help rather than thinking you can do it all on your own. I'm sure you get it by now. SELF LOVE IS HARD. But we are more than capable of doing hard things. We weren't put on this earth to coast through an easy life. We were put here to live, to love, to learn. We were put here to fail and start again 100 times over. Lean into the hardness. Embrace it. Know that it is more than normal to feel like this shit is hard. I promise you everyone doing the work agrees.
Remember that you are not alone now and never will be. Ask for help when you need it. There are people that would want nothing more than to guide you. You are not weak for needing help, you are actually strong. It takes more strength to ask for help than it does to be silent. Be patient with yourself, with your hopes, with your dreams, and your goals. There is no rush, although I know society may be telling you otherwise. This is YOUR journey and YOUR life. Its you vs you.
Know that you will never be done. This is a forever journey. You will forever be unlocking new levels of love and growth just to realize there's...more. Keep going. Take a deep breath and lean in. You've got this. For now, for always, and forever.
